Its not a major annoyance but for those days when :

-you just do not feel like letting everyone in your guild know you logged in for a minute and logged out (as it shows in the guild members page)

-Feel lazy, and having to switch to offline every time you log in.

-Wish to remain undetected from friends/foes/jerks ( if you actually want them to think you really went offline )

Much like Messenger where you have the possibility to choose a status before logging in, like as soon as you log in, BOOM, auto offline status.

Nothing too big and im sure theres more important things to take care off, but hey im just making a suggestion of a small thing that could be handy at times. =D

I agree somedays you just don't want to be bothered, of course this is mainly a problem for those in guilds,

Sometimes you just want to play solo without the hassle

I like the idea. Sometimes log on to move items from 1 character to another. That pesky guldmate that thinks they have to be your shadow from log on till log off. Would be nice to be able to remain 'hidden' until ready to play.

woulda been better if I never appeared at all sometimes =o) And before anet thinks their community is going all anti-human interaction on them, think about it. You telling us that you never wanted a little time alone? For most, it's a human need =o)

yea i would love this cause being a guild leaser everyone always attacks me with questions and ask me to help them and sometimes i can only hop on for a minute to do something really quick but if i try to respond i run out of time and if i dont respond im an asshole -.- so yea /signed

/Not Signed. The Do Not Disturb Function works for me... Also, it seems kind of odd to log on and having your status set to auto-offline to me.

This was an option at one time. I dont know why they killed it. You could set under options in the log in screen.

Okay I understand the confusion here.
The main thing about this function isn't about the DnD function that offline mode also has, its about being hidden from others, because if you log in, you have to manually set yourself to offline , but this blows your "cover" because someone might spot you on his/her list, or see in the Guild Members page that you recently logged in.

The issue here is privacy (and convenience to some extent).

Example: You tell someone you are going away for a couple of hours (when you just want to stay in offline status and wish to avoid talking to that person for a while).
You then want to play another character (or grab some item on some characters inventory), but that person would see that you logged in on that other character, because whenever you log in, the automatic status is *Online*.

totally /signed! It's irritating being hassled when you really only logged on for a half hour. It would be great if people paid attention to DND, but in reality they don't, so it's quite simply not effective enough.

Well you can just not be in the guild, if you want to remain incognito. Do Not Disturb is ok for me. I do see your point however, but you can alway just say no or I can help but I can't be bother.

People want to log in offline? Can anyone say "social problems"?

From reading all the examples of people that are in favor of this idea is the common theme to anti social behaviour. Seriously, is it so terrifying to deal with guildies/friends that you have to secretly log in...

Just tell people that you are busy with something, you don't have to be rude and all secretive. Like come on, is that guildie really going to have his feelings hurt or some crap when you set yourself to away or dnd?
